The early 1990's were the years that Nissan let loose an all-conquering R32 GT-R on the mainland and even the wider world. First introduced in 1990 for the All-Japan Touring Car Championship, with multiple teams all winning every single race by a R32, in which the legendary Calsonic team duo of Kazuyoshi Hoshino and Toshio Suzuki won the championship, the first for the team and second for Nissan in the series. Then raced for the first time out of Japan into Australia in late 1990 with Gibson, their drivers Jim Richards and Mark Skaife won three times and podiumed a further 3. The next year was utter domination, winning 7 out of the 9 rounds of the championship. With wanting more, the Nissan Nismo team set their sights on Spa in 1991.
